Researchers looked at temperatures, attractions, flight duration from UK and cost to compile the ranking
The Greek island of Crete has been named as the most family friendly destination in Europe for a beach holiday, according to a new ranking.
Researchers looked at the average air temperature, average sea temperature, the number of family friendly attractions, flight duration from the UK and the average cost for a family of four across 50 resorts in eight countries.
The Costa Blanca in Spain and the island of Cyprus also ranked highly, coming second and third in the list.

The Family Beach Index was compiled by travel firm On The Beach, which found that top rated Crete boasts the highest number of family friendly attractions (10) of all of the destinations in the study and enjoys an average daily temperature of 24 degrees during the summer months.
Second-placed Costa Blanca scored highly due to its short flight duration from the UK, warm sea and air temperatures, and large number of water and theme parks (seven).
And the research found that third place Cyprus scored highly when it came to warm sea temperatures, water and amusement parks, and the low average cost of a family holiday.
Topping our Family Beach Index, Crete is a fantastic choice with warm waters, balmy temperatures and lots of fun-filled water parks and theme parks to keep the family entertained.
