CRETE'S ODYSEE
Discover history in a exclusive way - Arkadi and Rethymnon
Crete's Odysee: Eye Travel professional guided minibus tour
You are together with your professional Eye Travel guide on a full-day tour of Rethymnon district.
From your hotel we follow the highway in a westerly direction. We walk through the pottery village of Margarites with its small alleys, Venetian facades and visit the workshop of a potter, where we will experience more about the rich history of this very old craft.
Then the tour continues through the interior, a landscape with ancient cypresses, olive trees and carob trees, gorges and archaeological excavations.
We visit the archaeological museum of Eleftherna and travel back in time to Homer with our qualified guide.
Our tour continues to the symbol of freedom of Crete, the Arkadi Monastery, where in 1866 hundreds of Cretan resistance fighters, women and children died during the struggle for independence against the Ottomans. Today, the monastery is still inhabited by Greek Orthodox monks and is an important national freedom monument.
Finally we visit Rethymnon, the third city of Crete. After our tour of the historical highlights, you will have free time to enjoy a drink at the harbor and then resume your return trip to your hotel.
